Ciao!
This is the second post about my favorite collections presented at Pitti Uomo last week.
BALDININI
Baldinini is a well known Italian brand specialized in footwear and accessories, but also in ready-to-wear. Their men’s spring/summer collection presented at Pitti is a collection designed for an indomitable traveller, a lover of the deserts and extreme lands. My absolute favorites were these espadrilles that you can see on the photo. Espadrilles are definitely a big trend for the next spring/summer. They presented also backpacks, pashminas and leather outerwear that all together define the Baldinini traveller looking for endless adventures.
MANDARINA DUCK
Mandarina Duck presented their brand new backpack collection. Five different backpacks, including also the reinterpreted version of their iconic Utility backpack were designed by Denis Frison. Entire collection is followed by a very interesting project called #UtilityWanderers that involves eight travelers and you can follow it on a dedicated website. I had the opportunity to take part in this project working with great people, such as Karl Edwin Guerre (in photo).
TIGER OF SWEDEN
Since I wasn’t in London for London Collections Men where Tiger of Sweden had their fashion show, I was happy to explore their collection at Pitti Uomo. It’s a history inspired collections that takes us back to the 17th century. A Baroque garden-inspired print adorns slick one-and-a-half breasted suits, bombers and windbreakers at the opening of the show, and bright bold stripes adorn blousons and wide leg trousers. A considered jumble of styles which comes together as a cohesive whole thanks to Tiger’s consistently sharp cut, this is a collection inspired by Sweden’s rich cultural history as much as it is Tiger’s contemporary attitude to the clothes it produces. Lush yet laconic, smart yet soft – and as desirable as ever.
TRAIANO
Traino is a brand I haven’t heard before and the one that really impressed me. It’s an Italian startup brand that took part in a special project Who’s on Next? They are a menswear brand that makes elegantly designed clothing made of extremely comfortable materials. They did so much research in the materials before they made the first pieces of the spring/summer collection. For instance, they use a special material for shirts so you don’t have to iron your clothes. Isn’t it great?
