Ciao!
After a pretty long absence from blog, I’m finally back. Summer vacation finished so quickly that I didn’t even realize my last blog post was more than 3 weeks ago. I’m back in Milan working on some new projects coming up in September. In fashion industry everything starts in September and it’s actually around the corner. Before this craziness starts I wanted to share with you a little bit more from my summer vacation in Greece.
I went to Skiathos, an island in Central Greece, that makes part of Sporedes islands along with Skopelos, Alonnisos and Skyros. Skiathos is not a big island and that makes it perfect if you want to discover other beaches on the island. My hotel (Skiathos Palace) was located on the northern side of Skiathos and had an amazing position. Two beautiful beaches (Maratha and Koukounaries) were located just under the hotel so you don’t have to go there by car or by public transportation. Some other beaches such as Ambelakia and Agia Eleni are also just a short drive from the hotel.
The city of Skiathos is not particularly beautiful. It become much more interesting by night when many people go there for dinner and drinks. I enjoyed walking through the streets of the old town where many restaurants and bars are located. The bar I would absolutely recommend is on the little peninsula Bourtzi, still in the center, between two ports. Bourtzi bar has a sea view as well as the view towards the old town of Skiathos.
Even though I also love adventures and changing places constantly, I really appreciate to spend some time on the beach, go to bed early, eat good food (I love Greek cuisine) and swim a lot. Swimming is one of these sport activities I could keep doing always as long as it’s in the sea, not in the pool.
After first days spent on Skiathos Island, I decided to move for the moment and I went on a day trip to Skopelos and Alonnisos. These two islands are located close to Skiathos and they have an extraordinary nature, beaches and of course the are less crowded by tourists. Skopelos town is a typical Greek island town with white houses, blue doors and lot of flowers. Going up from the port, I saw many tiny streets with beautiful cafés and restaurants. And when you arrive to the top there’s a breathtaking view towards some smaller islands and the sea.
The next one I went to was Alonnisos where the old city is located on a hill. The town is really small but particular and inspiring. Narrow streets, art galleries, local products stores, bars, restaurants are just some of the picturesque places on Alonnisos. I loved the gallery where they sell hand made toys as well as the restaurant located at the very end of the main street from where you can enjoy the view towards both coasts of the island.
I spent 9 unforgettable days of pure hedonism in Greece and I’m sure I will be coming back to Greece during next years. There are many islands that inspire me a lot and I can’t wait for the next summer to come as I can start planing my new summer holidays.
Have a look at some of my favorite shots from Greece! 🙂
